A ‘SIMPLE and low-cost’ approach has been proposed by Somerset Council to improve parking and crossing in The Square, Wiveliscombe.

Somerset Cllr Dave Mansell, said the aim was to keep dropped kerbs clear to allow better access and safer crossing, allow deliveries to shops, provide parking for shopping up to 30 minutes, and make it easier for traffic wardens to issue penalty notices for bad parking over dropped kerbs and near the corners of The Square.

The changes would make it clear where parking can be allowed for shopping, while also making it possible to deter parking where it causes most problems.

There was consultation with businesses in The Square and approval from the town council.
