Wellington Rotary Club has chosen SeeAbility as one of its local charities for this year.
SeeAbility runs an accessible purpose-built residential home in Wellington for adults with learning disabilities, complex needs, autism and behaviour that may be challenging. It specialises in supporting and assisting people with sight loss.
Rotary club immediate past president Jim Jellard presented a cheque for £1,000 from the club with a cheque for £75 raised by the daughter of Chris Cardwell, a Wellington resident who has volunteered as a gardener at SeeAbility’s Fiennes House for eight years. He is also a longstanding member of Wellington Rotary Club.
Fiennes House registered manager Sarah Pratt said: “We can’t thank the Rotary Club enough for its support. The club has helped us many times in the past, providing help in the garden, and funds towards the sensory room.
“Vital funds like this as well as the time our volunteers give up are vital if we’re to achieve our ambitions for the people we support. Our future plans include providing a family room where parents, and their son or daughter, can spend private time away from the bustle of the house and this money is the start of a concerted fundraising effort with that aim in mind.”
SeeAbility can facilitate afternoons, full days and even regular volunteering opportunities. Contact Ivy Button on 0118 9817772 to find out more.
