Covid-19 curtailed many Wimbleball Sailing Club activities during the first part of 2020 but with the lifting of Government restrictions and a strict safety policy the club was partially able to open its doors again to members in June.

Each year the club runs training courses for children and adults who want to get a taste of the enjoyment sailing offers.

This year, while a number of these courses had to be cancelled, the club – applying strict safety measures – ran the popular Wimbleball Osprey courses for eight- to 18-year-olds in July and August. The series of five-day courses follows the Royal Yachting Associations (RYA) stages for learning to sail and while being safe, instructional and informative, they are also great fun for children.

Participants do not need any prior experience of sailing and receive practical and theory instruction with close supervision to build their confidence and sailing skills.

The 2021 booking season opens in January – visit the club’s website, www.wimbleaballsc.org.uk, to find out more.
