PUPILS at Wellesley Park Primary School in Wellington got ‘greener’ during an Eco Day.

The event included a cress seed growing competition, designing and bringing into school an eco friendly lunch, a poster design contest and spending two hours in school using no electricity.

Staff from Nissan, Chelston, visited and demonstrated their Eco car – and pupils were surprised to see it charged up just like a mobile phone.

An eco committee at Wellesley Park is attended by a representative from each class who shares their ideas with the rest of the school. Wellesley Park has already achieved the Silver Award in the Eco-Schools and the Green Tree School National Award schemes.
