WELLINGTON School groundsman Simon Cook has won a prestigious national award.
Simon, who has worked at the school for three years, has won the SALTEX College Cup.
In an ‘Apprentice-style’ challenge held at the NEC in Birmingham, Simon and his team were given a case study which they had to review and present to a panel of experts.
Simon beat all competition to win the coveted title, which also comes with a cheque for £500 and a trip to Wimbledon to help in the preparation of Wimbledon 2019.
In addition to making Wellington School grounds immaculate, Simon is also studying Sports Turf Management at Bridgwater and Taunton College.
