MEMBERS of the Wellington branch of the Royal British Legion visited Rockwell Green Primary School to see its annual poppy displays.

Children from each of the seven classes at the school – Badgers, Hedgehogs, Kingfishers, Otters, Squirrels, Tawny Owls and Woodpeckers – designed and made their own personal picture with added words or sometimes a short poem illustrating their thoughts about what Remembrance means to them.

This year the school’s guests were shown around the displays by its values ambassadors, Jack Morgan and Izzy Hughes.

The British Legion members were extremely pleased and much appreciative of the children’s work.

Branch stalwart Bill Maidment said: “It is really moving to see the work these children have put into remembering the fallen. I hope going forward in their lives they ‘will remember them’ and join the Legion.”

Branch chairman Bob Trickey added: “We would like to thank everyone at the school for allowing the children to show their support to the British Legion.

“Rockwell Green Primary School is very involved in the work of the Legion in Wellington.

“We are very grateful that through this school’s involvement the other schools in Wellington are now becoming more involved. For the Wellington branch this is truly amazing and very welcomed.”
