A REDEDICATION service is being held on Sunday (October 5) for an historic organ in the Church of St Peter, in Langford Budville.

The pipe organ, built by Forster and Andrews, of Hull, recently underwent an extensive six-week restoration and has now been re-fitted in the church, which is believed to date to 1204 and saw a combined vestry and organ chamber added in 1873.

Sunday’s rededication is at 5.30 pm at the beginning of a simple harvest thanksgiving service.

Somerset Deputy Lord Lieutenant Colin Drummond, who lives in Langford Budville, has agreed to play several pieces for the congregation’s enjoyment.

Churchwarden Laurian Cooper said: “We invite you to join us so we may thank you for your generosity in supporting this project.

“Refreshments will follow.”
