AWARD-WINNING musicians, composers and folk music scholars The Rheingans Sisters are set to perform at Cotleigh Brewery in Wiveliscombe.

They are touring with their critically acclaimed third album Bright Field, hailed as ‘a great record’ by The Guardian.

The album won third place in the prestigious Roots Magazine Album of the Year critics poll at the end of 2018 and has earned The Rheingans Sisters a nomination for ‘Best Duo/Group’ at the 2019 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, which take place in October.

Songlines magazine also quickly declared Bright Field a ‘powerful and arresting’ album and awarded it its much coveted ‘Top of The World’ status.

The Rheingans Sisters make playful, powerful and richly connecting music that is wholly contemporary while deeply anchored in folk traditions.

Audiences across the UK, Europe and Australia have been captivated by their live performances – as full-hearted performers and on-stage improvisers via the adventurous use of fiddles, voices, banjo, bansitar, tambourin à cordes, poetry and percussion.

Rowan and Anna play a plethora of instruments in their live shows, many of them hand-made by their father Helmut Rheingans, who is based in their native Peak District home.

The Rheingans Sisters play Cotleigh Brewery on Saturday, October 12, at 7pm.
