NYNEHEAD Court’s feathered occupants have given the residents the first egg of 2016. The egg was laid by Snap and was eaten by the resident who won the competition to name the chickens – the winning names were Snap, Crackle and Pop.
The three chickens and their pen were bought with some of the money raised last year by Professor David Turner, who ran the London Marathon in aid of Nynehead Court; and also using part of a legacy left to the home by a former resident who had been a chicken farmer.
The chickens live in the garden of Nynehead Court’s Mulberry Wing for people living with dementia, and provide residents with a focus when they are walking in or looking out at the grounds.
