CHELSTON company Somerdale International, the leading exporter of British cheese to more than 50 countries around the globe, has been helping to fly the flag for the best of British dairy products at the Food and Hotel China (FHC) exhibition held in Shanghai.

Somerdale is showcasing its range of British cheeses, butter and cream at FHC as part of the UK Pavilion and believes the exhibition will provide a strong platform from which to build further its sales and relationships in China.

Somerdale already has an established presence in the country with a network of regional distributors covering the main Chinese cities and has instigated regular sea and air shipments to Shanghai.

It supplies cheeses in a range of retail packs as well as foodservice specific products to restaurants, hotels and food manufacturers. It has also developed a position in the growing retail and B2B e-commerce sectors.

Somerdale director Stephen Jones said: “There is an ever-growing demand for high quality dairy products in China and we are witnessing increasing interest in British cheese.

“We have a great story to tell in relation to product quality, environmental standards and provenance and FHC will we believe help us communicate this to the Chinese market.”
