WILD Nature is the theme of this year’s young photographer competition held by the Rotary Club of Wellington.

It is divided into three age groups – junior for seven to ten-year-olds, intermediate for 11 to 13s, and senior for ages 14 to 17 – and judging is in January.

Winners from the local round have the opportunity to be entered into the district and national rounds to find the best young photographers in the UK.

The Rotary Young Photographer competition gives entrants the chance to interpret the given theme in an imaginative way and experiment with digital and traditional methods. Any sort of camera can be used, including a phone camera, and images can be in colour or black and white.

Wellington entries – three per candidate – should be sent to David Elkington via email at [email protected] Entries should be in a digital format.

In the past few years the club has had winners from local schools in the Intermediate and Senior sections of the national competition – from Beech Grove School (Corbin Bate – Reflections) and from Wellington School (Ben Meek – Our Beautiful World).

David Elkington is also the Rotary young photographer co-ordinator for the Rotary District – the whole of Somerset and beyond.

All winning photographs come to Wellington and are judged by experienced judges from Wellington Camera Club. The winners then go on to the national competition.
