A NEAR-record 1,500 to 2,000 people attended the Friends of Wellington Park’s annual Spring Fair on Sunday.

“It was a brilliant day,” said co-organiser Rose Hookway. “There was something for everyone, particularly the children.”

Forty stalls did brisk trade and plenty of attractions were on offer, including choirs from St John’s, Wellesley Park and Rockwell Green primary schools.

Wellington Town Majorettes entertained, and other attractions included a bouncy castle, inflatable slide and face painting, while Odette’s provided cream teas and the Cider Shack refreshments.

The local army cadets and scouts also attended.

Mayor of Wellington Cllr Gary James officially opened the event and MP for Taunton Deane Rebecca Pow attended.

The Friends’ of Wellington Park’s first concert is on Sunday, June 2.
