THE organisers of Wellington Carnival Street Fair say that stalls are being booked fast with the event still about four months away.
Organiser Louise Brierley said she would urge local businesses or traders who want to book a stall to get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment, as stalls are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
She added: “The event has grown over the last two years and is arguably one of the most popular events held in the town. As well as providing a wide range of products available with the stalls, we will be encouraging local shops to open, too.
“We also have half the available slots confirmed with local entertainment groups which will provide entertainment in High Street and South Street during the day. If there are any local groups or individuals that would like a slot to display their talent, then please feel free to get in contact with us.”
Further details of the entertainment schedule will be published in the WWN.
Organisers are also looking for a theme for the event being held on Sunday, June 4 – last year they brought in Paw Patrol characters, who proved immensely popular with the children. An impromptu queue for photographs formed within minutes of the characters arriving.
Anyone who has an idea what youngsters would like as a theme is asked to get in touch with the organisers or leave a note with the WWN.
Chairman Dave Rylatt added: “Our street fair is an important event for us – it provides essential funds in order to allow Wellington Carnival to take place in September.
“We hope our event benefits local shops and businesses by increasing footfall – we know from raffle prize awards that people visit our town for this event from as far away as Plymouth, Bristol and Southampton. We will, of course, consult with all local businesses in order to satisfy any individual requirements/preferences etc.
“We really hope the residents of Wellington enjoy what is on offer. We are reliant on their continued support in order for the event to continue being successful.”
