NYNEHEAD Court’s Nature Day was a huge success, with visitors enjoying the stalls and activities in early spring sunshine.

The event was opened by naturalist and broadcaster Chris Sperring MBE who, along with photographer Ian Anderson, hosted talks during the day.

Taunton Deane mayor Cllr Vivienne Stock-Williams also attended and formally opened the owl boxes which will remain at Nynehead Court.

Other attractions included a demonstration by Walks with Hawks, a walk to the otter survey site on the River Tone, and activities for all ages such as making bug hotels for Nynehead Court and wildflower bombs.

Nature groups including the National Trust, Somerset Wildlife Trust, Somerset Otter Group and Marine Life Rescue were represented, with all profits going to the nature-based good causes which participated.

Two members of the Somerset Moth Group had sat out with a generator the previous evening to ensure a variety of moths were available to show visitors.

Home manager Angela Watkins said: “We are delighted that, after many months of planning and a lot of hard work, our Nature Day has been so well received. The weather certainly helped!

“We would like to thank everyone who helped to plan and run the Nature Day, as well as everyone who attended.”
