COUNCILLORS have deferred making a decision on whether to give St John’s Community Support Group in Wellington financial backing.

But councillors were left undecided as they wanted to know more information about the group.
Cllr Janet Lloyd asked: “I am sure they do a good job but do we get any feedback on how many people they are helping?”
Cllr Bob Bowrah added: “We give out these grants, but I would like to see at least once during the year someone coming along and letting us know what they have done with the money. It is public money.”
Councillors decided to defer on whether to award the support group a grant until they met again next month.
