CHANNEL 4 television programme Grand Designs often features ambitious renovation projects – now a property in that mould is up for sale in Wellington.
The Grade II listed Westford Pumping Station, near Rockwell Green, is thought to have been built in 1885 to provide a piped water supply to the area.
The pumping station, which replaced 286 wells, is a piece of Victorian industrial architecture with an octagonal chimney.
It comes with engines and pumps and has lots of arched windows – and could be converted in the Grand Designs style subject to planning consent.
The pumping station is being sold with the three-bedroom detached Pumping Station House, which needs modernisation, plus garage and gardens of more than a third of an acre.
The properties are for sale as one lot at auction at Taunton Racecourse on Thursday, July 4, at a guide price of £200,000 to £225,000. Anyone who would like more information should contact the Wellington office of Stags on 01823 662822.
