THE fifth Howard Road Fun Day in Wellington saw about 250 people of all ages come out to enjoy the afternoon’s free activities.

Mayor of Wellington Bob Bowrah officially opened the event before Somerset Red Arrow majorettes gave a display. Wellington Majorettes gave a display later in the afternoon

A barbecue was on offer, along with cold and hot drinks, plus cakes, and entertainment included two bouncy castles, wet sponge throwing, hook a duck, giant jenga and face painting, and the Children’s Centre made fruit kebabs.

Team games were organised, involving children and parents, and the final event was the annual giant water fight. 10 Radio again manned the PA system and Terry Milton provided gazebos.

The organisers, which include Wellington Churches Together, Street Pastors and local residents, would like to thank Wellington Town Council, Taunton Deane Tenants Forum and Youth Initiative for their generous grants which enabled the event to go ahead.

Finally, thanks go to everyone who helped to make the afternoon a great success.
