BUS campaigner Debbie Pemberton is confident of getting more than 3,000 signatures on a petition she launched to reinstate the bus between Wellington and Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

Ms Pemberton, of Bulford, who is planning to run the petition until the end of October, said: “I am amazed how people have got behind me. I want to thank all the establishments that have helped us.”

Mayor of Wellington Cllr Bob Bowrah, who is pictured with Ms Pemberton and the petition, has thanked her and her team for their hard work in raising the profile of the issue.

He said that with the town clerk and Cllr Andrew Govier he would soon be meeting representatives of Transporting Somerset to discuss the problems caused by the lack of a bus service.

The town council has agreed that the lack of a regular service to the hospital is unacceptable because of the needs of people in Wellington.
