TAUNTON and Wellington’s Liberal Democrat MP, Gideon Amos, has called the appointment of Lord Mandelson as Britain’s Ambassador despite failing security vetting “outrageous”.
There are mounting calls for the Prime Minister to resign amid claims he misled MPs.
Mr Amos said: “This is absolutely outrageous and the government has extremely serious questions to answer.
“We need a clean-up in our politics and a clean-up of appointments like that of our Ambassador.”
Liberal Democrat leader, Sir Ed Davey has called the appointment of Mandelson by the Prime Minister a catastrophic error of judgement.
He said: “Labour came into government on a promise to clean up politics. Instead, we’re seeing the same old sleaze, scandal and cover-ups as we did under the Conservatives.”
