NEWSAGENTS Lorraine Lettley and daughter Trish have spoken of their devastation at the closure of their shop E J Teare in South Street, Wellington.

“We can’t believe how kind people have been – and how sad it is,” said Trish. “We believe we have let a lot of people down – but we’ve been told not to be so silly. It really has been heartbreaking.”

E J Teare announced on Facebook last Wednesday evening that it had ‘ceased trading with immediate effect’. It said: “HSBC plc (2016 profit £5.61bn) suddenly and without warning withdrew our overdraft facilities with one week’s notice.” Trish said over the weekend: “Without this facility we simply couldn’t continue and there’s no way we can re-open.”
