PLANNERS have given the green light to temporary housing on the Blackdown Hills for 'essential' care staff.

The new 42 by 20 foot cabin will initially provide accommodation for the deputy manager of the Hummingbird care home in Churchinford and their family.

The build was said to be necessary so the deputy manager could be available in close proximity to the business - and is hoped to be in place for up to three years before a more long term plan is finalised.

The application won support from the Churchstanton parish council - with the Blackdown Hills ANOB group declining to comment, saying they were content for the planning authorities to arrive at a determination on the matter.
