AT least 5,000 visitors flocked to the Steam and Vintage Vehicle Rally organised by the West Somerset Railway Association on Saturday and Sunday.
The sun shone for the event which attracted 2,000 exhibitors – and all the family had something to enjoy.
The rally was put on entirely by volunteers, and Geoff Garfield, chairman of the organising committee, said: “It was an extremely good weekend. There were plenty of local ales and ciders to drink and the bar was drunk dry.”
Visitors to the rally at Norton Fitzwarren enjoyed parades of engineered steam engines and hundreds of vintage vehicles. Other attractions included full-size and miniature military tanks, steam train rides, trade stalls and craft market.
The rally is an annual event to raise funds for the West Somerset Railway Association, which supports the local heritage railway.
Next year’s show is on Saturday and Sunday, August 2 and 3.
