WELLINGTON Carnival Street Fair on Sunday promises to be the best ever with thousands expected to support the growing event.
Carnival chairman Dave Rylatt said yesterday: “The highlight of the day is sure to be the flypast by the RAF. It will be by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight consisting of a Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire fighter plane and a Hurricane fighter plane.
“We are so proud to have these planes taking part in our little event. The flypast is due early afternoon, but is dependent on operational issues working, as well as fair weather for the flypast to take place.
“We are hoping to receive one hour’s notice of the flypast, so people interested in this should listen out for announcements on the PA system at the entrance to White Hart Lane.”
High Street and South Street will be closed from 6am to allow more than 80 stalls and entertainment arenas to be established through the roads.
