A SECOND member of Wellington Conservative Club faces possible expulsion after standing for another political party in last week's county council election, the WWN can reveal.
John William Davison, of Elworthy Drive, Wellington, stood for the United Kingdom Independence Party while a member of the Conservative Club, polling 375 votes in the Wellington division of Somerset County Council.
Mr Davison is the second candidate to come under scrutiny after Frank Bishop, 80, who had been a member for 40 years, and is a former vice president of the local Conservative Association, was suspended from membership of the club last week for standing for the Senior Citizens Party.
Peter Turnbull, chairman of Wellington Conservative Club, confirmed Mr Davison is a member of the club. He told the WWN on Monday: "I discovered he was a member last week."
