Wellington Film Festival, which takes place later this year, is to open with a new film created just for the town – and local residents can get involved in the making of it.

Musicians and aspiring film-makers can find out more about the production process on Sunday (March 8) from 10am-4pm at Wellington Community Centre in White Hart Lane.

Wellington-on-Screen will be a celebration of the natural and built heritage in the area, and is the result of a partnership between Actiontrack Performance Company and Somerset Film.

The organisations previously collaborated on the film The Sound We See, which captured 24 hours in the life of the county on 8mm film.

This time they will be shooting on digital format and the final film will be premiered with the soundtrack performed live.

Somerset Film producer and festival co-ordinator Deb Richardson said: “This is a unique opportunity for musicians, whether you are an individual, a club or a group, to work collaboratively with film-makers. No previous experience of scoring films or film-making is required.”

Actiontrack previously produced The Wondrous Tales of the Whiteball Tunnel and musical director Nick Brace is once again at the creative helm.

The film festival, which runs from Friday to Monday, September 18-21, is a Wellington Town Council working group initiative and funded by Wellington Town Council.
