During 2017-18 the grants have included Citizens Advice Bureau, Wellington Churches Together, Wellington Museum and Local History Society, Reminiscence Learning, Wellington Wildcats Girls Football Team, Wellington Cricket Club, Wellington Quakers, St John’s Primary School, Wellington Community Support Services, St John’s Community Support Group, WHERE, Wellington Community Association, Wellington in Bloom, Wellington Carnival, Red Arrow Majorettes, Sticky Fingers Play Group, Wellington Library Friends, Wellington Choral Society, Wivey Link and Wellington Medical Centre Patient Participation Group.
Town clerk Greg Dyke, speaking at the recent annual parish meeting, said: “It can be seen from the wide variety of organisations that have successfully applied for grants that many different parts of the community have received financial help from the council.
“The council considers applications on a regular basis and it aims to ensure that finances are directed to the neediest organisations and those whose proposals are in line with the council’s aims and aspirations.”
