IT'S full steam ahead for Wellesley Park Primary School, Wellington.

The school's energetic head, Lindsay Gabriel, has galvanised the school since she arrived in January from Stawley to replace Maureen Crofton who retired after the school was classed as inadequate by Ofsted and placed into special measures.

The school became an academy last month and is now part of the Collaborative Academy Trust, a not-for-profit company, from where the school is getting support, advice and expertise rather than from the county education authority.
