WELLINGTON Town Council is again joining the nation in commemorating Armed Forces Day with a short ceremony and the laying of a poppy wreath at the town’s war memorial in Wellington Park.
Town Mayor Cllr Janet Lloyd will be accompanied by the Deputy Mayor and town councillors to honour the contribution made to the country by all those who serve or have previously served in the Armed Forces.
Members of the Royal British Legion Wellington branch will attend with their standard, local school children will scatter ashes and there will be words of prayer from the local church community.
Cllr Lloyd said: “Wellington town councillors are keen to be part of this national event so we can express our gratitude to the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country.
