Warning issued for whole of Christmas Day as strong winds set to hit WestcountryThe town branch of the Royal British Legion is holding a Service of Commemoration at the War Memorial in Wellington Park.
The Revd Julie Scott will lead the service, which begins at 10am. Wreaths will be laid led by Mayor of Wellington Cllr Janet Lloyd and an Act of Remembrance will be held.
RBL branch secretary Peter Critchard said: “Sadly, most of the service personnel involved in this campaign are no longer with us, but it is through their bravery and fortitude we can enjoy the life of freedom we have today. Bearing this in mind, we are sure people in Wellington will show their appreciation by attending Wellington’s commemoration event.”
Seating for former veterans and the disabled can be provided thanks to the help of the Friends of Wellington Park. Space is restricted and anyone who would like a seat during the service is asked to reserve one through Mr Critchard on 01823 668698.
The country will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Landings, which took place in 1944, tomorrow (Thursday, June 6).
