IT will not be a problem spending a penny in Wellington in future now that all three of town’s public conveniences are to be kept open.

The on-going saga over the past year about the maintenance and opening of the loos at Longforth Road, North Street car park and Wellington Park came to an end at the September meeting of the town council.

It began when Taunton Deane Borough Council, which owns all three toilets, announced it was proposing to close those in Longforth Road – as well as others in Taunton and other parts of the district – as it wanted to reduce expenditure because its grants from central Government had been slashed.
