WELLINGTON Town Council, headed by the town’s Mayor, Cllr Bob Bowrah, laid a poppy wreath at the local war memorial on Armed Forces Day on Saturday morning.
The Royal British Legion Wellington Branch Garden of Remembrance was also dedicated and the ashes of remembrance crosses scattered.
Cllr Bowrah was joined by other town councillors in Wellington Park and members of the local branch of the Royal British Legion.
The centenary of the Battles of Jutland and the Somme were also commemorated.
Armed Forces Day helps raise awareness of the contribution made to the country by those who serve and have served in HM Armed Forces and to provide an opportunity for the nation to show its support.
