ACTION needed to be taken over security at Tonedale Mill before ‘someone gets killed’ said Cllr John Thorne at the June meeting of Wellington Town Council.
An increasing number of people were gaining access to the site, not just youngsters but also older people, he said. It was a continuing problem which was not getting any better.
Various legal powers were available to Taunton Deane Borough Council and it was agreed to press the Deane to take action over safety at the site as an emergency matter.
Cllr Gloria Copley suggested a type of neighbourhood watch scheme in which people telephoned the police if they saw someone getting into the site.
Cllr Andrew Govier said the problem with the redevelopment of the site was that there was little value in it because of the very high rebuilding costs.
