TWO young men – both Romanian nationals – have died in a late-night crash on the A38 at Whiteball, near Wellington.

They were involved in a two-car collision just after mid-night on Sunday.

A 20-year-old man driving one of the vehicles and a 23-year-old man, who was a passenger in the same car, died at the scene from their injuries. The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injures.

Avon and Somerset Police have issued a statement in which they have urged any witnesses to come forward.

The police said yesterday: “If you witnessed this collision, please call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 148/17. Our Investigation Unit are unable to confirm IDs at this stage. The men are both Romanian nationals and we are working with the Embassy to identify and inform all next of kin through them.”
