VANDALS have attacked a noticeboard at a new play area in Wellington just days before its official opening.
Just days before the new play area at Howard's Road is due to be opened by the Mayor of Taunton Deane, yobs have torn down drawings of the new facility which were posted on a notice board at the site.
Proposals for the play area sparked controversy as soon as they were announced, with some local residents saying it could attract antisocial behaviour.
Diggers moved onto the site to start work on the new, £45,000 state-of-the-art play area in January.
The play area is due to be opened by the Mayor of Taunton Deane, Cllr Tim Slattery on Friday, March 27.
