INDIVIDUALS with a head for heights are being invited to take part in an abseil challenge to raise money for work at the historic St Mary’s Church in West Buckland.

The 71ft abseil from the top of the church is being held on Saturday, July 30, alongside a fun day.

People may have noticed scaffolding and work going on outside and inside the building made possible by a donation from Viridor and others.

But more funds are needed to continue work to keep the church standing and available to everyone, including the many couples getting married there this year.

Rope access firm Xeiad is providing its time, equipment and expertise free of charge, which means every penny raised through sponsorship will go to the Church Building Fund.
