COMMUNITY spirit is alive and kicking in the parishes of Stawley and Ashbrittle where residents turned out in force to give the village shop a spring clean.
Stawley Community Association chairman Annie Musgrove said: “It was great to see so many people turn out willing to help in any way they could. The shop was cleaned from top to bottom, hanging baskets re-done, outdoor paintwork and pointing jobs completed.
“Prior to the TLC Day, other residents had built more cupboards and shelves, repaired the roof and the drain. The village shop, next to Stawley School, is proving to be a valuable social hub. The shop and tea room are popular with locals and visitors alike.
“Especially in the summer, it is a great place to walk or cycle to as it is on National Cycle Network 344 to Bampton and you can be sure of a warm welcome, refreshments and a cooked breakfast or lunch.”
