A SECOND untaxed car in a week has been seized by police from the streets of Wellington.

The Wellington neighbourhood policing team acted on intelligence provided by residents in Foxdown Hill to remove the second vehicle.

The black VW Eos had aroused suspicions of residents after it was left parked on the road.

Police investigated and discovered that the owner did not live locally and that the vehicle was not insured.

They also found a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) had been filed with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), in Swansea, which keeps records for more than 40 million vehicles in the UK.

A SORN is used when a vehicle owner is keeping it off the road and not taxing or insuring it.

Police then acted to have the VW removed on a flatbed recovery lorry.

Earlier in the week, a white Audi car was also seized from the Cades estate after residents reported it was untaxed and had been left on the road for months.

Two other cars parked in Court Drive were investigated but police said both were currently taxed.
