SNOWDRIFT camp 2018. With two seasoned Explorers, Haydn and James, and with our soon to be coming up members, Nathan, Henry and Rex, 1st Hemyock Scouts had a great camp braving the elements on the first weekend of February. With just a small amount of kit, we all managed to sleep under the stars with no tents!
We started early Saturday morning and headed up to a friendly farmer’s patch of woodland for breakfast – yummy porridge! After that it was a five-mile hike to the night’s campsite.
We were super lucky that with old scout contacts we were able to use an area of woodland in Blackborough woods.
Great use of all the training was made and we managed to cook rabbit and swede over the campfire.
It was a cold night with a bit of rain but we all managed to get some sleep. Leaving the woods how we found it, the camp was over by 8am. Showers and baths needed for all!
I would like to thank everyone who helped out with the running and planning of the camp – it is not easy at this time of year.
