AN environmental group has thrown a watery week of events at Wellington’s Pop-Up Shop.

Transition Town Wellington’s water guardians took over the Pop-Up Shop from July 14 to 19 for a week of activities.

From exhibitions, videos, art work to river-themed poems, the week culminated in a day-long event on July 19 at the Arts Centre, featuring talks and discussions with area experts.

The group later showed the documentary ‘I Am the River, The River is Me’ about the Whanganui, a river in New Zealand that has been granted legal personhood.

Water guardian, Sue Rickard said: “The week was described by one visitor as ‘fascinating, informative, fun, educational and surprisingly moving’, which was lovely to hear.

“It was hard work but lots of fun and full of wonderful moments.”
