In 2007 the site of the old Cubitt & Drake yard, accessed via the alley, was developed into a row of town houses which the developer named, appropriately, Cubitt’s Place. This is confirmed by the carving on the front of the building.
This leads to the unusual situation of the thoroughfare being named after the building. Usually it is the other way round.
