SHOPPERS visiting Wellington’s Asda store were being shown in through a back door on Wednesday morning (September 9).

The store’s Lancer Court main entrance roller shutter security door remained jammed shut when the supermarket was due to open at 7 am.

Store manager Michael Vaughan was seen outside directing customers to a fire exit on the other side of the building facing the Longforth Road car park.

An Asda spokesperson told the Wellington Weekly: “The store remains open, there is just an issue with the roller shutter, which will be sorted as soon as possible.”

Asda has traded from Lancer Court since the company took over the former Co-Op supermarket in 2009.
