Northover appeared again in Taunton Crown Court on Friday (November 7) where he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge and also admitted threatening a person with a blade.
Attempted murder carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, while the guidelines for wounding with intent suggest a sentence of between three and 16 years, although life in prison is available for the most serious cases.
Judge Paul Cook told Northover his sentencing would take place on Wednesday, December 17.
