WELLINGTON Town Council is looking into the possibility of spending more money on Christmas lights this year.

The total cost of the 2016-17 lights was £14,880, which includes installing the lights, storage and the official switch-on, which is on Saturday, December 2, this year.

Some traders wanted the lights to be up and running two weeks earlier but councillors at the monthly meeting felt this was too early.

Town clerk Greg Dyke suggested a compromise at last week’s monthly council meeting of Saturday, November 25.
