Wellington is set to have its third Neighbourhood Police Sgt in six months, after Police Sgt Kat Forrest announced she would be leaving the post.

Sgt Forrest announced her departure in a report to the Wellington Town Council, where she expressed sadness over the move. Sgt Forrest said she had been promoted into a new role at the Bridgwater Neighbourhood team, where she would continue her policing work.

Sgt Forrest said: "I’ve really enjoyed the last six months here in Wellington, and everyone has been so welcoming.

"However I couldn’t be happier with my replacement Sgt Jon O’Connor.  Jon and I worked together in Taunton Neighbourhood Policing Team before I moved to Wellington.

"He has a wealth of knowledge and experience and I know he will continue to do good things for the community of Wellington."

Sgt O'Connor will be leaving the Taunton Neighbourhood Team to take over the freshly vacated role in Wellington.
