WOMEN who run businesses in Wellington are being encouraged by a new support group to give blood.

The latest meeting of Wellington Women in Business (WWB) coincided with World Blood Donor Day and it was realised that three members had given blood.

Now, WWB co-founders Zoe Old and Maz Vincent want to see the number increase with more members having given blood by the time they meet again.

The latest meeting was attended by nearly 20 women who enjoyed ‘canapés and fizz’ before a brief recap of the previous month for the new faces who were in attendance.

The guest speaker was Samantha Parr, from SMILE Social Media, who covered the various social media platforms and gave her top five tips for success.

Samantha encouraged quick-fire questions throughout the presentation as she shared her knowledge.

Ms Old said: “Maz and I both had a good feeling about tonight’s meeting and think it was the best to date, with special thanks to Samantha of SMILE social media for her incredibly informative insight into all things social media related.

“The evening flew by with lots of great connections being made.

“We would encourage any ‘Women in Business’ to come along as we really do have something quite different to offer with our relaxed approach to networking’.

Ms Vincent said: “The group is going from strength to a strength as we grow organically with our new members.

“There is no joining fee or monthly subscription to pay, we just ask for a token donation at the meeting to cover the running costs we incur in hire of hall, refreshments, etc, which we are currently funding.”

WWB will hold its first social gathering on Wednesday, July 12, at a venue to be confirmed.

More information is available via the group’s Facebook page and any questions can be emailed to [email protected].
