Wellington & Taunton YFC has given £1,500 to local charities over the last two months as a result of fundraising.

The money was split equally between Get Home Safe, Maggie’s and Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, and the cheques were presented at the May and June meetings.

Georgia Manning received the Gold prize for the Best Agricultural Trade stand at the Royal Bath & West Show. Georgia is a member of Wellington & Taunton Young Farmers and took on the role of chairman for Somerset Young Farmers Bath & West marquee.

Somerset YFC is celebrating 85 years this year so the committee decided that the theme of the marquee would see them celebrate 85 years in farming.

The marquee featured a 1947 Petrol TVO Massey Ferguson along with a timeline of key dates in farming since 1929 and a memory tree, inviting all guests to add their favourite farming or countryside memory to the tree.

The marquee was popular throughout the week attracting visitors such as Countryfile presenter Adam Henson, Robert Goodwill MP, Rebecca Pow MP and the Countess Bathurst, joint president of the show.

The show is a great way to promote Young Farmers and the activities members can get involved in – with a joining age from ten-26, there is something for everyone and many friends to make, competitions to enter and skills to learn.
