Martha Robson, visiting Wellington over half-term, thought the information board in the Playing Field for Wellington House needed cleaning.

So she set about cleaning it. These pictures show the results of her efforts.

The board gives a brief history of Wellington House which was built by Sir John Popham in the late 16th Century but was destroyed only 50 years later during a Civil War incident.

It also features a few details of the Monument, two-and-a-half miles distant, which can be seen through a gap in the trees.
