CHILDREN who attend Smile, at St John's Parish Church, Wellington have said goodbye to curate Rev Janet Anderson-MacKenzie.

With a team of volunteers, Rev MacKenzie has run the club which happens once a month at the church. She has been appointed to the position of Priest-in-charge of the Benefice of Box with Hazelbury and Ditteridge in the Diocese of Bristol, and her last service at St John's will be this Sunday, January 20.

She told the WWN: "I am quite sad I have held my last Smile, but I am sure the rest of the Smile team will be able to carry on smiling without me. "The children really enjoy it, which is the most important thing."

The January Smile featured making salt dough camels, singing, praying, having a snack.

The next Smile, which is free, will be on Ash Wednesday, February 6. All under 12s are welcome, with an accompanying adult.

Rev Anderson-MacKenzie's licencing at Box will be on February 14 when it is hoped a coach will be arranged to take a party from Wellington to the event.
