THE LADIES of Wellington Bowling Club have begun playing in the club’s two indoor leagues - the Thursday Afternoon and Friday Night Triples.

The indoor season has been running for a few weeks now and already the teams are fighting it out to be top of their table.

This week, three games were played. The first was between the Robins and the Swallows in the Thursday League. Thelma Helps, Jane Hayes and skip Monica Carter's Robins began well with a two shot lead but Rosemary Small, Carol Connor and Angie Moore came back at them and after three ends the teams were level on three shots each. After six ends they were still level, this time five shots apiece.

Monica's Robins pulled ahead after that and they managed a very good but tight win by 10 shots to 9.

The first of the Friday League matches was a different game altogether. Monica Waite, Diana Dagg and Angie Moore's Elms were in trouble from the start. Wendy Scott, Janet Moore and June Anderson's Hazels picked up a very good four shots in the first end and added insult to injury by collecting six more in the second.

Elms made every effort to come back but it was not their day and the Hazels went on to win comfortably 21 – 3.

The second match in the Friday Night League was very similar to the first. Jacqueline Finney, Debra Beasley and skip Eileen Stewart went ahead in the first end, winning for the Rowans by 2 shots to 0. Sadly for the Rowans, that was their one taste of winning anything that night because Sally Waygood, Monica Carter and skip Sue Channon's Oaks were on top form and they romped home, winning in style 17 – 3.
