WELLINGTON Bowling Club welcomed three teams from Exonia Bowling Club in a mixed triples friendly, knowing it would be difficult to win against the well established club from Exeter.
But Geoff Stamp, Tracey Richbell and skip Ken Brown had a really good game. They put up a great fight and won by two shots 22 – 20.
However, it was Wellington’s only success. Stuart Pike, Diana Dagg and skip Tony Gibson found themselves 16 – 5 down at the halfway point and although they came back strongly they lost in the end 16 - 25
Tony was particularly pleased with the good bowling of Stuart Pike, a new member at the Wellington club and playing his first match.
David Dagg, Liz May and Henry Richbell did all they could but lost 18 – 9, so Exonia were the winners overall by 63 shots to 47.
Meanwhile, Wellington Ladies drove to Minehead to try to get their own back after losing to them in the Fear Cup. This time they came away triumphant after a very close competitive battle.
Debbie Lane, Diana Dagg and Chrissie Willcocks were the team in form on the day, winning in style 22 - 14. The other two Wellington teams both lost but not by a big margin, so the overall result was Wellington 47, Minehead 45.
In the mixed triples match at home against Hemyock, the in form team was Steve Lovell, Monica Carter and Ian Hollingsworth who won convincingly by 24 shots 36 - 12.
Jacqueline Finney, Alan Moore and Alan Every won a very close game 15 - 14 while Tony Gibson’s trio managed a 15 all draw.
Hemyock won on the last rink 20 shots to 12 but the overall victory was Wellington's who went on to gain a78 – 61 success.
